It’s been a while since I posted one of these but I’ve truly been insanely busy.

Since this series is meant to be all about my choices, it took me a while to come up with this one because my life isn’t very happening and there aren’t many ground breaking choices I made that I can talk(boast) about.

Steve Jobs said, simplicity is the best sophistication and with that, I completely agree. On that note, I’d like to share with you, another small but life changing(more like colour changing) choice that I made.

To wear sunscreen or not

I obviously, owing to all the skin cancers that I’ve been taught about, decided that it was safer to prevent than to cure.

There I was, sitting with a thick layer of sunscreen, in one the most humid and hot places on this planet, otherwise called, my college.

I hoped that the “doesn’t wash away with sweat” claim was true because I, was sweating more water than I had in my entire body.

With the confidence that I wouldn’t come back looking like a nicely done piece of steak, I marched down to the bus stop only to be kept waiting for the bus to arrive. I didn’t even think the umbrella was necessary. Talk about “swag”.

The bus, was the only form of shade we were fortunate enough to have but the data we needed wasn’t going to walk it’s way into our pockets.

Unwilling  yet determined, we walked the rural streets and knocked from door to door in hopes of getting people to talk to us. In that moment, I knew what a salesman must go through when most of his customers shut the door on his face.

*sweating profusely

My brain was convinced that a thick layer of sunscreen could wage as many wars as possible against the rays of the gigantic star.

And with that assurance, I walked further into the village and deeper into my own grave.

At last, after two hours worth of hard work, we returned to the bus which although a furnace, seemed comparatively cooler.

Thank god for relativity.

At times like these, I wish humans didn’t come with the idea of clothes. But a tiny part of me thought better of it, not because I was in any way ashamed of my body but because that would mean applying sunscreen to the rest of my body as well and I wasn’t ready for that kind of commitment.

It’s true, thanks to my laziness, I haphazardly slap sunscreen wherever I see skin and mostly I just give up after the face. Too much work. I can’t let anything encroach upon my tiny nap times.

Oh well, thick layer, it’s all good, I’m protected even from the likes of Ebola. No one can beat me. Not even the god damn sun.

So there I was, returned to college in one piece. A piece that wasn’t a single colour anymore but a mosaic of shades.

A huge thank you to my spectacles for saving my skin from the tan and saving it so selectively.

Yay, I now proudly present to you, a face that has clearcut non-tanned skin around the eyes. Spectacles without spectacles. Who would’ve thought THAT was possible.

Well, give me a call and I’ll give you the details. I bet it’s a fad now. You’ll see it in the next Vogue magazine. I hope.

In conclusion, I have a fair idea about my place in the cosmetic world.

First from the bottom.

This is where positive thinking isn’t of much help so I’ll let it go. To hell with sunscreen. I might as well go like white dough and come back like roast and do it without the extra expenditure.

There’s always vacation during which I hibernate within the confines of my home and de-tan.

Having said that, I still hugely promote the idea of applying sunscreen because it can prevent skin cancer but try not to be too valiant(stupid) and bask (Fry) in the sun all day.

My choice? Eh. Depends on how many extra minutes of break I get.

What’s your experience with any cosmetics? Let me know and we can dwell on my uselessness in those matters further.

Let me leave you with some pictures of the fun day.

Oh look, the special force comes in threes. And a basket.

Mix your face cream or lotion with sunscreen then you eliminate a step from your routine. You can just put an extra layer if you’re going swimming or doing sport outdoors 😇

Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind. But the thing is, apart from soap, and moisturising cream for my body, I don’t use anything. But I’ll try this in case I graduate to that stage 😊😊
